On Saturday 25th November 169 runners turned out for the Ravenstonedale 10K. Teesdale Athletic Club had 9 runners representing the club which was a fantastic turnout. A somewhat ‘undulating’ course run on the roads surrounding the village of Ravenstonedale was a beautiful backdrop in terms of scenery. We were blessed with a crisp sunny day in which to appreciate the location and lovely views.  Although only about 2 degrees at the start, woolly hats were soon discarded once runners got on their way. Three of the TAC team were ‘graduates’ from the Couch to 5K programme they started in January and all 3 obtained personal bests. If you told them they would be running 10K’s in under an hour back in January they would be shaking their heads. Well done.
Results as follows: Josh Mawer 39.17 (7th), Nigel Mawer 44.08 (31st), David Raymond 47.57 (54th), Michael Dolderson 49.48 (67th), Ellie Cox 50.04 (70th), Andrew Stainthorpe 58.37 (126th), Carrie Wheeler 59.19 (129th), Karen Dolderson 1.15.54 (168th) and Gail Foster 1.15.55 (169th)
The best was yet to come as runners made their way to the village hall after the race for hot soup and bread. A raffle was then drawn (using race numbers as your ticket) and various prizes were handed out from bottles of wine, a night stay in a local holiday cottage, a meal for 2 at the local pub plus some alternative goodies like firelogs, Christmas cake, a hamper and a set of step ladders (I kid you not!). So a lot of hilarity to end the event. All runners seemed very keen to get this one in the calendar for next year.
